Two accused who came to Surat from 200 km away to snatch Chain were caught

6.26 lakh worth of cash was seized from Mitesh Beldar and Mahavi2 Chauhan who were coming to Surat from Tarapur in Vadodara on a bike.

The Surat Crime Branch has nabbed the habitual accused of chain snatching from Adajan, Gauravapath Road, Bagban Circle, from Tarapur to Surat on sports bikes, targeting people going for early morning and night walks.

According to the information received from the police sources, the team of the chain snatching squad of the Surat city crime branch visited the crimes committed in the city area and got the information of the accused arrested in the crime of chain snatching earlier, worked out on the basis of CCTV, technical and human intelligence surveillance, Adajan, Gauravpath Road, Bagban Circle. Accused Ashok alias Nikunj alias Niklo alias Meetesh Ramjibhai Beldar (D.O. 26 Res. Jichkagam, D.Tarapur Dist. Anand) and Mahaveer Singh Natubhai Mubhailu Chauhan (Garasia) (D.O. 21, Res. Hiarigam, D.Tarapur) , Distt. Anand) recovered gold chain No-6 from them, totaling Rs. 5,76,649/- and Hero Karisma bike used in committing the crime of chain snatching Rs. 50,000 – received a total of Rs. 6,26,6498 was the property in question. Further investigation by the city crime branch revealed that the accused Ashok alias Nikunj has been staying in Surat city from 2005 to 2015. During this period, after being caught in the crime of chain and mobile snatching, he went to stay in his hometown and there he met with Sagarit Mahaveer Singh Chauhan who committed chain snatching crimes in different cities of Gujarat state and was caught in the year 2020 in those crimes and released after spending about a year in jail. Mattamal was arrested for committing chain snatching crimes by targeting people who were out for early morning and night walks after covering a distance of 200 km from his native Tarapur to Surat on a sports bike. Confessing to Adajan Post Sta. 3, Udara Post-3, and Khatodara Post-2, a total of 8 undetected crimes of chain snatching in Surat city area were solved. Surat City Crime Branch is conducting further investigation.
