BJP rule in Maharashtra now: Fadnavis to the throne

The cycle of forming a new government in Maharashtra is in full swing: BJP-Shiv Sena's Shinde faction seats: Fadnavis to be elected as leader: Shinde or whatever he suggests will happen Deputy Chief Minister

Mumbai: After Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray resigned from the post of Chief Minister last night, the cycle of formation of a new government in the state has gained momentum. After 21 months, BJP rule is coming again in the state and the new government will be led by Devendra Fadnavis. The BJP-led government will not only include Shiv Sena rebel leaders, but will also become the Deputy Chief Minister by whatever name they suggest. A meeting of the BJP assembly party is being held today in which Devendra Fadnavis is being elected as the leader. On the other hand, it is learned that Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde is also holding a meeting in Goa. The BJP-led government is preparing to hold the swearing-in ceremony by tonight or tomorrow.

Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat has told all MLAs in the state that floor tests are no longer required as per the Governor's order. So today's special session will not be called. Uddhav Thackeray yesterday announced his resignation from the post of CM and MLC of Maharashtra.

Following the dramatic resignation of Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has been instructed to become the Chief Minister of the state again. He said on Wednesday that future action would be decided and announced on Thursday. Fadnavis was at the Taj Hotel for a meeting of MLAs. Here slogans were chanted in support of Fadnavis as the next Chief Minister.

Amid ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, celebrations began in the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday evening when Uddhav Thackeray announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. BJP leaders were seen chanting slogans and distributing sweets at Mumbai's Taj Hotel. At its center was Devendra Fadnavis, who met the governor on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday evening, Thackeray announced his resignation after the Supreme Court refused to stop the floor test in Maharashtra. The governor had ordered a floor test in Maharashtra at 11 am on Thursday, against which the Shiv Sena had filed an application in the Supreme Court. Uddhav Thackeray's team, which has been reduced to just 12 MLAs, had demanded in a Supreme Court petition that the floor test called on Thursday be stopped.

According to sources, now after Uddhav's resignation, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis can file a claim to form a government. Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde, who started this political crisis, could become the Deputy CM.

There was already talk that Uddhav Thackeray could resign as Chief Minister if the Supreme Court decision does not go in Shiv Sena's favor. The Maharashtra cabinet meeting on Wednesday evening sparked speculation that the government had changed the names of three cities and Thackeray formally thanked the ministers for their co-operation.

Announcing his resignation, Thackeray came live on Facebook and said, "The people we have raised and created have cheated us. I’ve come to power unexpectedly and that’s the way I’m getting out. Shiv Sena has a family, will not let it break. I'm not going anywhere. '
