RR vs RCB: Rajasthan beat Bengaluru in final for second time, will face Gujarat on Sunday
RR vs RCB, IPL Qualifier 2: Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in IPL Qualifier 2 on Friday to reach the final for the second time thanks to a superb century by Jose Butler. Now Rajasthan Royals will play the title match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday i.e. 29th May in Ahmedabad.
New Delhi: RR vs RCB, IPL Qualifier 2: Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in the IPL Qualifier 2 on Friday, making it to the final for the second time thanks to a superb century by Jose Butler. Now Rajasthan Royals will play the title match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday i.e. 29th May in Ahmedabad. At the same time, Royal Challengers Bangalore have been knocked out of the IPL with this defeat.
Chasing the target, Rajasthan Royals got off to a great start with openers Yashaswi Jaiswal and Jose Butler. But, the successful (21 runs) fell to Hazelwood in the sixth over. After this, captain Sanju Samson (23 runs) was dismissed by Vanindu Hasaranga. This was followed by Devdutt Padikal (9) at the crease. In the end, Shimron Hetmeyer (2 runs) and Jose Butler (106 runs) gave the team the victory. Jose Butler has scored his fourth century of the season. Earlier, only Virat Kohli had scored four centuries in the IPL season.
Rajat Patidar scored a half century
Earlier, despite Rajat Patidar's half-century (58) in the previous match, RCB could only manage 157 for eight against Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier of the IPL at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Patidar took full advantage of the gift of life in the sixth over to hit four fours and three sixes in an innings of 42 balls.
Famous Krishna and McCoy took 3-3 wickets
Captain Faf du Plessis contributed 25 and Glenn Maxwell (13 balls, two sixes, one four) contributed 24 runs. Famous for Rajasthan Royals, Krishna bowled brilliantly and took three wickets for 22 runs in four overs, including the wickets of Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik.
Apart from him, Obed McCoy was quick for three wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Trent Bolt and R Ashwin took one wicket each. RCB lost Kohli's wicket for nine after receiving an invitation to bat. Du Plessis and Patidar played responsibly and shared a 70-run stand for the second wicket.
RCB scored only 34 runs in the last 5 overs
Maxwell came in and tried to increase the run rate with a few shots but after reaching the pavilion RCB continued to lose wickets which did not lead to any major partnership. The last phase of RCB's innings can be estimated from the fact that he added only 34 runs in the last five overs and lost five wickets.
