New Delhi: Draupadi Murmu has been declared the candidate for the forthcoming presidential election on behalf of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This is not the first time that Murmu's name has come up, but even in the 2014 presidential election, the name of the then Governor of Jharkhand, Draupadi Murmu, was hotly debated. But in the meantime, Ramnath Kovind's name was stamped and he was elected President.
Now, after discussing about 50 names in the BJP parliamentary board meeting, an opinion was formed on the name of Draupadi Murmu. In such a scenario, if the election succeeds, Murmu, a tribal woman who once worked as a clerk, will climb the Raisina Hill CDO for the first time.
Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 19 in Baidaposi village in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. His father's name is Biranchi Narayan Tudu. She belongs to the tribal Santhal family. Draupadi Murmu was married to Shyam Charan Murmu. The couple had two sons and a daughter. But soon after the marriage she lost her husband and both her sons.
Murmu started her career as a teacher to run the house and educate her daughter and later she also worked as a junior assistant in the Irrigation Department of Odisha. The daughter also got a job in a bank after college. Iti Mu lives in Ranchi these days and is married to Ganesh from Jharkhand. Both have a daughter Adyashree.
Draupadi Murmu started his political career by winning the election of councilor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat in 19th. He served as the Vice President of the BJP Scheduled Tribes Front. He was also a member of the National Working Committee of the BJP's Tribal Front. Draupadi Murmu twice became MLA from Odisha's Mayurbhanj district's Rayrangpur constituency on a BJP ticket in 2000 and 2008. Were created.
Draupadi Murmu was made the 7th Governor of Jharkhand in May 2016. He replaced Syed Ahmed. Draupadi Murmu was sworn in by the then Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Virendra Singh. Draupadi Murmu also got the title of being the first woman Governor of Jharkhand. Also, he is the first tribal to become the governor of any Indian state.
