The Department of Telecom held a meeting with telecom and smartphone companies. In this meeting, the issue of time taken for 5G rollout in India was discussed. It has been learned that the Indian government has expressed displeasure over the time it is taking for 5G services. The government has especially given an ultimatum to the smartphone companies that they should provide the required 5G software update in all 5G smartphones within 3 months, otherwise the telecom companies will have to bear the consequences.

5G software update is taking time

Let us tell you that smartphone companies have been distributing 5G smartphones for the last 2 years. In this 5G smartphone customers were hoping that as soon as the 5G network becomes available in India, they will be able to use 5G services first. But it didn't happen. Telecom companies and the government have been working towards bringing 5G for the past one year. But smartphone manufacturing companies were completely focused on selling 5G smartphones. No work was done from their side on giving 5G software update to the phone. In such a situation, while Airtel and Jio have launched 5G networks in the country, 5G smartphones sold in India are not running 5G. However, smartphone manufacturing companies are claiming to roll out 5G software in all smartphones before December.

5G update will be available in smartphones by December In

a meeting with the government, Apple said that a 5G software update will be announced for iPhone 12, 13 and 14 by December. While Samsung said that they will release an update to 5G smartphones by November. Let it be known that there are about 750 million mobile phone users in India, but more than 350 million users are only 3G and 4G compatible.
