Appeal filed in High Court against Fenil's death sentence in Surat's controversial Grishma murder case
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court today filed a criminal appeal in the Gujarat High Court against the death sentence handed down to him by Fenil Goyani, accused in the Surat-based Grishma murder case. However, a request was made to the High Court by the accused's counsel during the hearing of the case. However, the High Court told him in no uncertain terms that the convicts convicted in other cases before you have been in jail for ten to twelve years and your appeal cannot be heard while their appeals against their sentence are pending.
In Surat, in February last year, 21-year-old Grishma Vekaria, who was in a one-sided love affair with a mad accused Fenil Goyani, killed Karpin in public by running a cold college paddle around his neck. In this controversial case, the Surat Sessions Court had on May 5, in a landmark judgment, declared the case as the rarest of the rare cases and sentenced the accused Fenil to death.
Following the trial court's verdict, the state government has already filed an appeal in the High Court seeking confirmation of the death sentence of the accused Fenil. Defendant Fennell later filed a criminal appeal challenging the lower court's order to commute the death sentence of the trial court, which was filed in the High Court today. Now in the coming days this appeal will come on the walk and its hearing will be held.
