After banning the export of wheat in May, now the government has also banned the export of flour, flour, semolina. Issuing the order, which was passed by the Union Cabinet last week, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said the move was taken to control the prices of these items. However, export of these items will be permitted in certain cases with the permission of the Government of India. As per the notification, the export of meda, samolina (Rawa Sirgi), whole flour besides flour will now require the approval of an inter-ministerial committee. Semolina also includes rava and sirgi. It said that the special provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 will not apply under this notification. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, between April 2022 and July 2022, wheat flour exports from India have seen a 200% increase compared to the same period in 2021. India has exported 246 million tons of wheat flour in 2021-22.
