The World Health Organization (WHO) says the monkeypox virus has spread to more than 21 countries, with more than 200 cases confirmed so far. Now in India too, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued a warning.
'Younger children are at greater risk'
The ICMR says young children are more likely to get the disease, which is why their symptoms need to be monitored. Currently, not a single case of monkeypox has been confirmed in India, but the government is on high alert for the infection. So far, 226 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 21 countries. The WHO said Friday that about 100 suspected cases have been reported from countries where monkeypox is not commonly seen.
The government issued an alert
In view of the monkeypox infection, the Union Ministry of Health has advised all states to instruct hospitals to keep an eye on patients with symptoms of the disease who have recently traveled to countries infected with monkeypox. The health ministry has asked to keep such patients in quarantine. According to sources, so far only one person has been placed in quarantine for monkeypox infection symptoms, who had gone to Canada.
Cases are coming out in many countries
Examination of the patient's sample at the National Institute of Virology, Pune, did not confirm the infection. The airport at which the passenger arrived has not been disclosed. Let me tell you that on May 7, the first case of monkeypox was reported in Britain. Cases of monkeypox have been reported from Britain, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Canada and the US.
