Shetrunji Dam, the lifeline for crops and water for Bhavnagar city and district, has overflowed for the third year in a row. After this dam overflowed on September 9 last year, this year, this largest dam in Saurashtra overflowed on Thursday, September 15 at 6 hours in the early morning. All the 59 gates of the dam were opened by 2 feet and the same was the case in the evening. The problem of irrigation has also been solved to a large extent with the water being released in the canals on both the left and right banks of this dam overflowing. After last four days water inflow in this dam was 15,340 cusec and outflow was 15,200 cusec this morning. In Hethwasni river and 140 cusecs of water was started in left and right bank canal.
